Going by the reports in the past couple of months, it is very clear that Bayern Munich will be bolstering the attack during the next summer transfer window. Die Roten will need a wide player if Kingsley Coman leaves next summer, while there have been numerous links with different strikers across Europe.

Nantes forward Randal Kolo Muani is the latest striker to be linked with a move to Bavaria. According to Foot Mercato, Bayern is keenly following the 22-year-old striker from Nantes. Along with Rekordmeister, various clubs such as Eintracht Frankfurt, Tottenham Hotspurs, and Borussia Monchengladbach are also interested in young forward.

Muani will be available on a free transfer in the summer as his contract with Nantes ends in 2022. The report from Footmercato suggests that Muani has no intentions to sign a new deal that will ultimately allow him to hold talks with interested clubs during the winter transfer window.

The French forward has primarily played as a central striker for Nantes. In 10 league appearances this season, Muani has two goals and two assists to his name. The young forward has managed 24 goals in 56 appearances, showing promising signs at a young age in terms of his scoring rate. (Stats courtesy: Transfermarkt)

Apart from Muani, Die Roten has been linked with Dusan Vlahovic and Victor Osimhen in the past few weeks. However, the signing of Muani makes much more sense for Bayern from a financial and sporting point of view.

Robert Lewandowski is showing no signs of slowing down, while Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is a fine backup striker in Die Roten’s squad. The Cameroonian forward can also play on the flanks if needed. Bringing in a young striker like Muani to learn the trade from Lewandowski will benefit the club in the long run when they try to replace the Polish striker.

Since Muani will be available on a transfer fee, it makes a low-risk high rewards type signing. The market for star strikers is difficult. Moreover, getting a big forward signing can lead to disruption in the squad as he will have to play regularly. A shrewd signing in the striker position will be a much better approach for Rekordmeister.

There has been speculation surrounding Lewandowski’s future as he is reportedly waiting for a new contract offer from the club. It will be a huge shock if Rekordmeister does part ways with him next summer. However, the Bavarian club needs to start the process of developing a long-term replacement for the Polish striker. Getting a player like Muani could be the step in the right direction of this process.
