Bayern Munich: Predicted XI for away clash against Benfica
Will Marcel Sabitzer finally get a start?
Nagelsmann has been hesitating to make big changes in the midfield over the past few weeks. However, the German manager needs to manage playing time for Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka to keep them fresh for the entire season.
The game against Benfica is a good opportunity to give Goretzka some more rest. Marcel Sabitzer came on for him at halftime against Leverkusen. The Austrian midfielder has been reduced to opportunities from the bench since arriving from Leipzig at the end of the transfer window. The game against Benfica is the right time for Sabitzer to start in central midfield with Kimmich.
Thomas Muller will start in the number ten role on Wednesday. The German forward can be used in this role for 50-60 minutes before making way for Jamal Musiala. Both players have been in fine form, giving Nagelsmann a good selection headache.
Kingsley Coman returned to action on Sunday after recovering from minor heart surgery. The French winger should be in line to get a start on Wednesday. Coman will play on the right flank, while Leroy Sane will operate on the right flank. Fresh from his brace against Leverkusen, Robert Lewandowski will be looking to add more goals to his tally when he leads the line against Benfica.
