Bayern Munich: Kingsley Coman returns to training after heart surgery
It has been a near-perfect September for Bayern Munich as they have won every game across all competitions. The German Champions will be looking to round off a successful month with a victory against Dynamo Kyiv in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Ahead of hosting Dynamo Kyiv on Wednesday, Rekordmeister received a piece of positive news on the injury front. Kingsley Coman started light training with the first team on Monday. The Frenchman has missed the last couple of games after he underwent surgery to correct a minor issue related to his heart.
Even though Coman has returned to training with his teammates, he is unlikely to play on Wednesday. The French winger does have an outside chance of playing the weekend’s Bundesliga clash against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Coman is yet to get in the groove this season due to minor injuries and a heart problem. The German champions will be hoping that he stays in Bavaria during the second international break to build fitness. The Frenchman needs minutes to get back his rhythm after a start-stop pre-season and the first two months of the new campaign.
Kingsley Coman was probably Die Roten’s best wide player last season as he was consistent with his end product throughout the season. Julian Nagelsmann is set to have a welcome selection headache when Coman is completely fit and available for selection.
The German manager has done a great job with all forwards in a short space of time, so Coman should be excited about playing under him. Jamal Musiala has been sensational this season, while Leroy Sane is getting back to his best after Nagelsmann moved him to the left flank. Serge Gnabry has also enjoyed a decent start to the season.
Having a plethora of in-form wide players will allow Nagelsmann to rotate the squad when fixtures pile up before the winter break. Moreover, healthy competition will get the best out of every attacking player at Die Roten.
Nagelsmann should be aiming for heavy rotation in the final couple of group games of the Champions League if they manage to win the first four games. The German manager needs to give fringe players crucial playing time to build up rhythm and eventually help the team over the course of the season. The game against Kyiv may not see many changes as Rekordmeister welcome back fans to Allianz Arena for a European game after 18 months.
