Bayern Munich players shine for Germany against Iceland

The final matchday of the September international break saw multiple Bayern Munich players involved in Germany’s 4-0 win over Iceland. Hansi Flick’s side completed a sweep of all three UEFA World Cup qualifying matches with their victory on the road.
Serge Gnabry opened the scoring for Die Mannschaft in the fourth minute with his third goal in his last two appearances for Germany. Gnabry now has 19 career goals in 29 appearances for the senior national team. Assisting on the goal was Leroy Sane who registered his third assist of the qualifying campaign.
Later in the first half, it would be Joshua Kimmich who set up Germany’s second goal of the match. The midfielder produced a well-placed corner that found Antonio Rudiger for a header that sailed into the back of the net.

In the 56th minute, Sane blasted a shot into the net that increased the advantage to 3-0. Sane, who scored against Liechtenstein, concludes his international break with two goals and one assist in three appearances.
Leon Goretzka was the provider of Sane’s goal to extend his assist streak to three matches. The midfielder provided at least one assist in all three of Germany’s September fixtures. Goretzka exits this international break with four assists and he is tied for third place for the most assists in UEFA World Cup qualifying.
Overall, Bayern’s players for the German National Team were instrumental in their nation’s success during this set of qualifying matches. They combined for five goals and seven assists over the course of the three fixtures.
Germany will enter the October international break in first place in Group J. They have a four-point advantage over second-place Armenia. In October, Die Mannschaft plays Romania and North Macedonia.
Robert Lewandowski provides crucial assist
Poland had a massive match against England in Warsaw. The Polish National Team is in the midst of a close battle for second place in their group and needed points against The Three Lions. Despite going down a goal in the 72nd minute, the home side rallied to score an equalizer in the 92nd minute and Lewandowski provided the assist for the crucial goal from Damian Szymanski.
It was a very successful September international break for Lewandowski as he produced three goals and three assists in three appearances. His goal total for Poland now stands at 72 goals which ranks him 13th all-time in FIFA’s international scoring rankings.
October will be a key month for Poland in the World Cup qualifying campaign. They currently sit in third place in Group I and are five points adrift of first place England and one point away from Albania in second place.
