The first away fixture of the 2021/22 Frauen-Bundesliga season ended in another three points for Bayern Munich Frauen. After their big 8-0 win over Werder Bremen on Matchday One, they once again won by multiple goals. Goals from Linda Dallmann, Hanna Glas, and Lea Schuller propelled the Bavarian club to a 3-0 win over SC Sand.

This was the third consecutive clean sheet result Die Roten has had against Sand. Having led the Frauen-Bundesliga in clean sheets last season. FCB Frauen is displaying a similar defensive dominance at the start of the current campaign. With two clean sheets from their first two fixtures, they are on track for another strong defensive showing.

Goal scoring form continues

After two matches played in the Frauen-Bundesliga, Bayern has scored a total of 11 goals and is averaging 5.5 goals per match. This is well above last season’s average of 3.73 goals per game. The sample size is small for this season, but a fine goalscoring start for the campaign bodes well for the rest of the campaign.

The three goalscorers for Die Roten all scored for the second consecutive match. Each player scored one goal against Bremen and increased their season totals to two goals with the goals scored on Saturday against Sand. After two matches, FCB Frauen already has four players on their squad who have scored two goals as Lina Magull scored a brace against Bremen.

More from Bayern Strikes

Schuller, who led Die Roten in goals scored last season, has now scored 16 goals in her last 13 Frauen-Bundesliga appearances. She scored a total of 16 goals during the entirety of the 2020/21 campaign and she is on her way to bettering that number if she continues to average a goal a match this season.

Klara Buhl registered her third assist of the season in the win over Sand. She is now the Bayern leader in assists and is just two assists away from a career-high number of assists. In the 2020/21 season, she had recorded four assists in 19 appearances and is already nearing a higher number in the current campaign. (Team stats courtesy: Fbref)

dark. Next. Bayern Munich made most out of difficult transfer window

The challenge for Bayern Munich Frauen will be to emulate domestic performances in the Champions League and go all the way. They suffered defeat against Chelsea in the Champions League last season despite being in a strong position over the course of two legs. The next step for this team will be to become a strong challenger for the European title, so a good start to the domestic campaign can be an ideal springboard to achieve this target.
