Bayern Munich have big expectations from Jamal Musiala
For over the past couple of decades, Bayern Munich has seen multiple top talents successfully stepping up from reserves to the first team. Thomas Muller is the prime example of this policy as the German forward has been a pivotal member of the squad for more than a decade.
During the 2020/21 campaign, Jamal Musiala was the young star that was seamlessly integrated into the first team. The teenager showed maturity beyond his age to come up with good performances for Die Roten throughout the campaign.
The second season is generally much more difficult for young players. All the senior teams have much more time to prepare and stifle them, but Musiala has been an exception to the case until now. The German international has started the season on fire, raising the bar of expectations of fans, his teammates, and manager.
While talking to media (via Bundesliga.com) after the game against Hertha Berlin last weekend, Julian Nagelsmann heaped praise on the young forward. The German coach also insisted that Musiala had repaid his trust by delivering top-class performance on his first league start of the season. Nagelsmann is expecting Musiala to become a quality player for Bayern in the long run.
"“He has unbelievable potential. It’s extraordinary. He has great finishing qualities. Unbelievable attacking qualities also in his dribbling with the ball.”“He justified my trust. He’s doing very well. He has the basis for an outstanding career.”"

Along with Nagelsmann, Joshua Kimmich also recently heaped praise on Musiala. While talking to the club’s magazine (via Goal), Kimmich insisted that Musiala and Nianzou Kouassi have the talent to become top players for Die Roten.
Bayern will have to manage the workload of Musiala
Musiala has been a tremendous find for Die Roten. The youngster is getting better with his decision-making in the final third with each passing game. However, the German club and Nagelsmann will have to control the temptation to play him every game due to his age.
Excessive playing time for the teenager could eventually burn him out. Rekordmeister will have to make sure that they find a balance between adequate playing time and burnout.
Hansi Flick did a fine job in managing the workload of Alphonso Davies last season. The Canadian winger had a breakthrough campaign in Bavaria during 2019/20. He endured a mixed 2020/21 campaign where Flick made sure that his workload was managed properly. A similar approach will be needed for Musiala.
The young forward is currently with the German national team for the World Cup qualifiers. He is not a definite starter for the national team due to the quality of opposition, but that day will not be far, considering his development trajectory has been on a remarkable rise in the past 18 months.
