The UEFA World Cup qualifying matches saw multiple Bayern Munich players involved in goal scoring. Robert Lewandowski scored for Poland while Leroy Sane registered a goal for Germany. In addition to these two players, there were many others who featured for their respective countries during the first matches of the September international break. Here’s a recap of how they fared.
Germany shutouts Liechtenstein
A new era began for the German national team as former Bayern manager Hansi Flick was at the helm for their match against Liechtenstein. There were four Bayern players in the starting 11 as Sane, Jamal Musiala, Joshua Kimmich, and Niklas Sule received a starting role. Leon Goretzka and Serge Gnabry would feature later in the match as substitutes.
Sane was certainly one of the top performers for Germany. Along with his second-half goal, he recorded four key passes, one big chance created, and completed 88% of his passes. The German winger has been on the receiving end of intense criticism from fans in the past few weeks, so a good performance with the National team will surely boost his confidence.
Musiala and Goretzka both recorded assists in the 2-0 victory. The 18-year-old provided the assist on Timo Werner’s opening goal and Goretzka set up Sane’s strike. Kimmich finished with three key passes and one big chance created.

Sule won all three of his aerial duels, completed all eight of his long ball pass attempts, and completed 91% of all his pass attempts. Gnabry recorded one key pass and completed 90% of his passes. (Stats courtesy: Sofascore)
Lewandowski on target against Albania
It was a 4-1 victory for Poland against Albania and Lewandowski was instrumental in the win. The Bayern striker scored the first goal of the match to increase his World Cup qualifying goal total to four goals in three appearances. Later in the game, Lewandowski recorded an assist on Grzegorz Krychowiak’s goal in the 54th minute. The Polish captain is in tremendous goal-scoring form as he makes it eight goals for the new campaign for club and country.
Kinglsey Coman makes a second-half appearance for France
Coman made a second-half appearance for France in their 1-1 draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina. He entered in the 76th minute to replace Antonie Griezmann and registered one cross and one successful dribble attempt.
Alphonso Davies helps lead Canada to a point
Canada began their CONCACAF World Cup qualifying final round campaign against Honduras. Davies was in the starting 11 and played all 90 minutes in the 1-1 draw. The Canadian registered three key passes, five successful dribbles, and five tackles.
