Bayern Munich: Last Chance Saloon for Mickael Cuisance
At the start of the summer, Bayern Munich made it clear that signings after Dayot Upamecano and Omar Richards will take place only if there are departures. The club brought Sven Ulreich back to Bavaria in July after Alexander Nubel went out on loan to Monaco. There was no significant transfer activity since July as the club looked to find offers for fringe players.
The depressed transfer market had made it difficult for top clubs to find buyers for fringe players. Die Roten was no exception. They did manage to squeeze few loan moves at the end of the window, but they didn’t manage to sell a player from the first-team squad. The defending champions did eventually bring in Marcel Sabitzer from RB Leipzig without selling any midfielder from the squad.
Mickael Cuisance was one of the fringe players that were likely to leave this club. However, the Frenchman will now be part of the first-team squad for this season, at least until January. It has been a difficult couple of seasons for Cuisance, but he has got another opportunity to impress in a Bavarian shirt.
The young French midfielder arrived in Bavaria after an impressive spell at Borussia Monchengladbach. However, he struggled to get consistent playing time during the treble-winning campaign. He only managed a handful of starts in the Bundesliga.

After a frustrating debut season, Cuisance decided to leave Bavaria in 2020. He had agreed to a move to Leeds United, but the transfer collapsed at the last moment. The French midfielder eventually joined Marseille on a season-long loan in the final week of the transfer window.
Cuisance struggled to get playing time in Ligue 1. There was some sort of optimism for the midfielder after Jorge Sampaoli was appointed as the new head coach in the second half of the last campaign. Cuisance delivered few impressive performances under the Argentine coach, but few reports in France suggested that attitude problems ended his loan spell at the club.
The 22-year-old midfielder was back in Bavaria for pre-season training. He is yet to make a Bundesliga appearance, but he did score against Bremer SV after coming on in the second half. Galatasaray, Genoa, and Torino were linked with Cuisance, but a move didn’t materialize.
Cuisance was reportedly open to a fresh start in Bavaria in summer. He has managed to get this opportunity, but he will face an uphill task to break into the starting XI due to competition in midfield positions. However, Julian Nagelsmann is not afraid to stick with young players if they manage to impress him. It is now up to Cuisance to make the most of the last chance by he has got to fulfill his potential at Die Roten.
