It was an emphatic win for Bayern Munich Frauen in their first match of the 2021/22 Frauen-Bundesliga season. They scored eight goals en route to an 8-0 clean sheet victory against Werder Bremen.
Die Roten had seven different players score goals as Lina Magull led the way with a brace. Laura Benkarth, who led the Frauen-Bundesliga in clean sheets last season, picked up her first shutout of the campaign.
The Bavarian club took the lead early in the first half with Magull scoring from a well-placed free kick in just the second minute. It would take the home side just over 30 minutes to grab a second goal as Carolin Simon dispatched a shot into the bottom corner of the net from just outside the penalty area. Four minutes later, Lea Schuller opened her account for the season with a great finish into the right corner. At halftime, it was a 3-0 Bayern advantage.
In the second half, Die Roten would pull away with four goals in the span of ten minutes. Goals from Hanna Glas, Magull, Maximiliane Rall, and Lineth Beerensteyn made it a 7-0. A final goal from Linda Dallman in the 74th minute would conclude the scoring in the match.

Statement victory
The defending champions certainly showed little has changed from the dominant form they displayed throughout last season’s campaign. No other club in the opening weekend fixtures was able to match the number of goals scored by Bayern. Die Roten led the Frauen-Bundesliga in goal scoring during the 2020/21 season and they’re off to a great start to once again finish as the top-scoring club.
