Bayern Munich was victorious in their final match of August. Die Roten dominated proceedings on Saturday night at the Allianz Arena with an emphatic 5-0 win over Hertha Berlin. It was the first clean sheet of the Bundesliga season for the home side and the second shutout this week.

Goals came from Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller, and Jamal Musiala. This trio also happens to be the top three performers for Bayern from the match. Here’s a look at each of their individual performances.

Robert Lewandowski

It was only a matter of time until Lewandowski registered his first hat trick of the 2021/22 season. He came close against Borussia Dortmund in the DFL-Supercup with a brace but he didn’t have to wait much longer after that performance as he scored three goals against Hertha. Last season, he had a four-goal match against the club from Germany’s capital city and he added another multi-goal performance to his growing list of goal-filled performances.

This was a classic Lewandowski performance with all three of his goals coming from inside the penalty area. He showed incredible tenacity to register his first goal of the match after his initial effort hit the crossbar.

The striker tracked down the rebound and dispatched it into the back of the net. His two goals in the second half displayed his tremendous ability to make himself available in the penalty area and finish the opportunities that come his way.

In addition to his three goals, Lewandowski recorded two key passes and completed 90.9% of his pass attempts. The opening goal of the match featured a great dummy by Lewandowski that allowed Muller to score. This match will certainly be one of his top moments from the campaign.

More from Bayern Strikes

Thomas Muller

Muller picked up his first goal and assist of the Bundesliga season. As previously mentioned, he opened the scoring in this match with a goal in the sixth minute. In the second half, Muller provided the assist for Musiala’s goal in the 49th minute.

This was a great performance from Muller right before the start of the September international break. He did not have his best performances in the previous two Bundesliga matchdays but Saturday was a sign that those will likely just be anomalies in what should be another strong season.

Jamal Musiala

After a fantastic showing against Bremer SV in the DFB-Pokal first-round fixture, Musiala followed up that performance with another great appearance in the starting 11. The 18-year-old scored his first Bundesliga goal of the season with a top-class finish. Additionally, he registered two key passes and led Bayern with four completed dribbles.

The future is very bright for Musiala and more performances such as this one could result in him becoming a more consistent player in Julian Naglesmann’s starting 11. With three goals and one assist in five appearances so far this season for Bayern, he is proving to be a consistent offensive producer.
