Racing Louisville awaits
Bayern’s opponent on Saturday, Racing Louisville, defeated the Chicago Red Stars in the second match of the day. Just like the first match of the day, Louisville needed a penalty shootout to advance to the final.
Louisville is the host of the competition and will certainly be looking to defeat Die Roten on Saturday to win in front of their home supporters. The National Women’s Soccer League club’s form has been trending upwards in recent weeks as they have not lost in their last three fixtures. They do currently sit in ninth place in the NWSL table out of the ten clubs in the league, however, they still have an opportunity to qualify for the playoffs as they are just three points adrift from sixth place.
Schuller gets another goal
The terrific goal-scoring form Schuller has shown in the preseason continued on Wednesday. After scoring three goals at the AMOS French Cup, she registered a goal against PSG to bring her total to four goals in her last three appearances. Against Louisville on Saturday, Schuller could be the one to provide the goals needed to win the tournament.
Olympic players return
The fourDie Roten players who competed in the Tokyo Olympic Games were all featured in Wednesday’s match. Among those who starred was Saki Kumagai who provided an assist on Dallmann’s goal and Glas would score the winning penalty kick in the shootout.
