Nagelsmann is likely to stick with the same defense
Manuel Neuer will be looking to add one more trophy to his name when he captains Die Roten against BVB in DFL Super Cup. The German goalkeeper is likely to play the majority of games this season, so Sven Ulreich will have to patiently wait for playing time.
Nagelsmann decided to pair Dayot Upamecano with Niklas Sule for the Bundesliga game against Gladbach. The center-back pairing did well last Friday, so the German manager is likely to stick with the same pairing against Dortmund. Nianzou Kouassi will have to wait for a chance in the back four after getting vital playing time during pre-season.

The right-back position had given a selection dilemma to Nagelsmann for the first league game. Benjamin Pavard has been ruled out for weeks due to a training ground injury. Bouna Sarr and Josep Stanisic were two options for this role. The youngster got the nod after an impressive pre-season, while Sarr replaced him late in the game. Stanisic grabbed this opportunity with both hands and delivered a good performance. It will be a big surprise if he doesn’t start against Dortmund on Tuesday.
Alphonso Davies completed 90 minutes against Gladbach after returning to first-team training at the start of last week. The Canadian full-back is likely to start again on Tuesday since he looked close to his best against Gladbach. Omar Richards will have to wait for an opportunity as Davies has started the season in the best possible way.
