There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the attacking reinforcement at Bayern Munich in the past few days. The German Champions are keenly monitoring the market to strengthen the squad after concluding three signings early in the summer.

Over the weekend, reports in France and Italy suggested that Die Roten is thinking about bringing Franck Ribery back to Bavaria. The Frenchman was present at Allianz Arena last week during the team presentation. He is also currently training at Sabner Strasse to maintain fitness.

Franck Ribery is currently a free agent after Fiorentina didn’t hand him a new deal. The French winger played in Serie A last two seasons after leaving Die Roten in 2019. Ribery enjoyed a glittering career in Bavaria that included treble in 2013.

The frenzy transfer speculation was quickly squashed by the German Champions. While talking to media (via AZ) on Tuesday, Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn heaped praise on Ribery, but he ruled out a move for him this summer.

"“I’ve always had a lot a lot of fun with Franck, nice conversations, but we’re not thinking about signing him right now.”"

Earlier this week, Lothar Matthaus had also advocated the idea of bringing Franck Ribery back to the club on a one-year deal. Ribery had jokingly responded to Matthaus’ comment on social media. The French winger will be more than happy to return to the club, where he enjoyed consistent success over the last decade.

However, the German Champions are probably moving ahead and looking for other options for the fourth winger role in the squad. On Monday, reports in Germany and France confirmed that Die Roten had been quietly working on a deal to bring young winger Amine Adli from Toulouse.

While Ribery would have been a very good option for the fourth winger, getting a younger forward will make sure that they will start developing a talent that can come good in the future. Both deals had their pros and cons, but in the long run, Rekordmeister will be gaining more by signing Adli.

Meanwhile, Rekordmeister is closing on a new deal for Joshua Kimmich. After finding a breakthrough last week, the German Champions are reportedly planning to make an announcement in the next couple of days. Die Roten will now focus on securing the future of Leon Goretzka and Kingsley Coman, along with adding at least a couple of transfers before the deadline day. The German club has been heavily linked with RB Leipzig midfielder Marcel Sabitzer, but his arrival will depend on possible departures from Bavaria.
