Bayern Munich enjoyed success last season by winning the ninth consecutive Bundesliga title. Along with the league title, the Bavarian faithful also enjoyed the emergence of Jamal Musiala. The youngster has firmly established himself in the first team.

Musiala made an immediate impact in the first Bundesliga game of the 2020/21 season against Schalke. He came off the bench to get himself on the scoresheet. The emphatic finish from the teenager did set the tone for his entire campaign.

The former Chelsea player was kept around the first team. Hansi Flick also handed him starts in some crucial games across the season. His good performances at the club level eventually led to speculation around his international allegiance. England and Germany were involved in a tug of war for his service.

Eventually, Musiala decided to represent Germany. He was part of the German team in Euro 2020. The meteoric rise of the teenager for club and country has been remarkable. Ahead of the second season with the first team at Bayern Munich, Jamal Musiala revealed his targets during an interview with SportBild this week.

The coach sent me a very nice and motivating text after the defeat against England, it made me very happy.”“The most important thing for me is to get match practice, many minutes on the pitch if possible, in order to continue to develop. This season, I want to score goals again, give more assists and improve my headers.”"

Musiala ended the debut season with seven goals and one assist across all competitions. He ended up playing more than 1000 minutes for Die Roten. The next target for the youngster is steadily improving the output in the final third.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder may face bigger challenges this season since teams will figure him out and try to restrict him. Moreover, there is also a case of getting burn out after having a long debut season with club and country. Die Roten and Julian Nagelsmann will have to make sure that they manage the workload of the youngster and provide him the ideal environment to take his game to the next level.

Flick had a big role to play in Musiala’s emergence at Die Roten. The youngster will get similar guidance from Nagelsmann since he is known for getting the best out of young players. The young German coach helped many young players to become first-team players at Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig.
