Bayern Munich Frauen has advanced to the final of the AMOS Women’s French Cup. They defeated Lyon by a score of 4-2 to claim a place in the final match of the four-team preseason competition. Roma awaits Bayern Munich in the final as they defeated Paris Saint-Germain 2-1 in the first match of the day.

It didn’t take long for Die Roten to take the lead against Lyon. Lea Schuller scored in the eighth minute as she produced a brilliant chip to open the scoring. Later in the first half, the striker would register a brace as she doubled Bayern’s advantage in the 42nd minute.

In the second half, the German club would continue to pull away from Lyon as they added two more goals. Maximilian Rall scored two goals in quick succession in the 70th and 71st minutes to make it 4-0. Lyon would register two late goals in the final ten minutes of the match to prevent Bayern from recording a clean sheet.

Schuller showing great form

The 2020/21 campaign was one of Schuller’s best seasons to date in the Frauen-Bundesliga. She recorded an impressive 16 goals in 20 appearances which was the second most goals scored by a player in the entire league.

Her performance on Wednesday showed she hasn’t lost any form when it comes to scoring goals. Both of her finishes were top class and the 23-year-old should be a factor on Friday in the final against Roma.

More from Bayern Strikes

Rall scores a great goal

Rall’s second goal of the match was a fantastic chip as she scored one of the best goals of the tournament. The new addition to Bayern’s squad showed she can be an offensive contributor when it comes to scoring goals.

Although she only registered one goal for Hoffenheim in the Frauen-Bundesliga last season, Rall did register nine goals in 22 appearances in the 2018/19 season. The defender clearly has the ability to produce goals based on her performance from Wednesday.

Roma awaits

The match against Roma should be another good test for Die Roten. In their victory over PSG, Roma scored two incredible goals that showcased their precision shooting ability. The German club will have to be careful they do not allow their opponents to have too much time and space to shoot as they punished PSG for the opportunities they allowed from long range.

Bayern will be looking to build off their performance against Lyon. This preseason competition will be one of two tournaments Die Roten will play in before the domestic and continental campaigns begin. If they can claim the title on Friday against Rome it certainly would be the best-case scenario to begin their August schedule.
