With less than a month left in the transfer window, rumours and speculation around numerous players will get intense. Bayern Munich is currently quiet in the window, but the German club will be looking at players to improve the squad.
The latest report from FussballTransfers insists that Bayern is one of the numerous Bundesliga clubs that are interested in PSG defender Thilo Kehrer. Bayer Leverkusen has been heavily linked with Kehrer in the past few days as the French club is looking to listen to offers for the German defender. PSG is looking to get a fee close to €20 million for the defender.
Kehrer was rated as one of the most promising young defenders in Germany during his time at Schalke. He eventually got a big move to PSG as a reward for good performances in the Bundesliga. The 24-year-old defender has also earned nine caps for the national team since 2018.
Things have not gone as planned for Kehrer in the French capital. The young German defender’s development has stalled at PSG as performances have significantly dipped in the last couple of seasons. With the arrival of Sergio Ramos, Kehrer may get very less playing time at the club.

Move to Bayern for Kehrer makes little sense
Kehrer is considerably young, so a good transfer this summer can help him to kickstart his career. However, a move to Bavaria will make very little sense for the German Champions and Kehrer.
Die Roten already has four senior center-backs on the books, while Benjamin Pavard can also fill in the central defense. Kehrer will find it difficult to break into the starting XI in Bavaria since other options in the heart of defense are in better form. In the bigger scheme of things, a move to Bayer Leverkusen will be much more beneficial for Kehrer to get back to his best.
Meanwhile, Rekordmeister cannot afford to spend such type of transfer fee on a center-back. The finances of the club have been dealt a blow due to the pandemic, so the club needs to raise funds by listening to offers for fringe players. With the budget being tight, another center-back is way below in the transfer wishlist.
The chiefs at Die Roten have consistently insisted that there will be no big signings, but they remain attentive to possible opportunities that could come up in the next four weeks. It will be a huge surprise if Kehrer will be turning up at Allianz Arena for the home side next season.
