Bayern Munich: Jerome Boateng could replace Jules Kounde at Sevilla
Bayern Munich parted ways with three senior players this summer. Javi Martinez and David Alaba have already joined Qatar SC and Real Madrid, respectively. Meanwhile, Jerome Boateng is taking time to decide his next destination after his contract with Rekordmeister came to an end in June.
Recent reports in Germany suggest that Boateng could end up playing in La Liga. According to SportBild, Boateng is holding talks with Sevilla regarding a transfer. The Spanish side will have to make room in the wage bill to accommodate Boateng.
The arrival of Boateng will make a lot of sense for the Spanish side. Earlier on Tuesday, reports in England confirmed that Chelsea is negotiating with Sevilla to sign Jules Kounde. The young French defender will leave a big void in defense, which could be partially filled with the experience of Boateng.
Moreover, Jerome Boateng will be available on a free transfer. The Spanish club has also suffered big losses due to the pandemic. Considering the circumstances, Boateng will be a fairly smart signing for Sevilla this summer.

From Boateng’s perspective, it will be a very good move. The Spanish team will be playing in the Champions League next season. Julien Lopategui has helped Sevilla to become a very competitive side in La Liga, along with winning the Europa League in 2019/20.
The former Bayern Munich defender has been open to the idea of enjoying a new adventure in his career, so Sevilla ticks a lot of boxes. Boateng is far from his peak, but he still has a lot to offer at the top level after rediscovering his form under Hansi Flick in the last 18 months. With Sevilla, Boateng will be able to compete at the highest level and test himself against the best players in the world.
Boateng was previously attracting interest from Tottenham Hotspurs. However, the departure of Jose Mourinho made sure that a move to Spurs was out of the equation for Boateng. With the top six clubs in Premier League pursuing other center-backs, La Liga and Serie A are his best bets for next season.
The next couple of weeks could be decisive for Boateng and Sevilla as Chelsea looks to complete a deal for Kounde. The German defender may assess all other options as there has been interest from Serie A in the past. Nevertheless, one thing does look certain that Boateng will be playing at the top level next season.
