Bayern Munich: Herbert Hainer pleased with Julian Nagelsmann’s arrival
After enjoying tremendous and historic success under Hansi Flick in the last 18 months, Bayern Munich will begin a new era next season with Julian Nagelsmann. The highly-rated German manager is set to be the face of the club for a long time as he penned down a five-year deal.
Nagelsmann was approached by the club in April after Flick wanted to be relieved from his contract. The German manager was eyeing the role of national team manager. Die Roten did not stand in his way and initiated negotiations with RB Leipzig for Nagelsmann.
The German Champions ended up paying a world-record fee for a head coach to get Nagelsmann from Leipzig. Die Roten didn’t approach different coaches as Nagelsmann was the top target for this role.
Earlier this month, reports in Germany hinted that Nagelsmann had made a good first impression on the club hierarchy. While speaking to TZ this week, club president Herbert Hainer heaped praise on the young German manager. Hainer is particularly pleased with the maturity Nagelsmann shows at such a young age.
"“I think Julian Nagelsmann is really outstanding as a coach. He is one of the most sought-after coaches in all of Europe. I watched him at Hoffenheim and Leipzig – and now I’ve got to know him better. To exude such maturity and conviction at such a young age and to listen to him when he talks about football – Julian is a great guy!”“We had Julian on our radar for a long time. We said to ourselves: If there is a chance to sign Julian now, then we’ll do it too. At the moment there is an absolute spirit of optimism here on Säbener Straße, Julian brings in an incredible spirit.”"

Nagelsmann did phenomenal work with Hoffenheim as the German club also qualified for the European competition. He was linked with a move to Die Roten when Carlo Ancelotti left Bavaria, but the German decided to take a step-by-step process in his coaching career.
After brilliant work at Hoffenheim, Nagelsmann moved to RB Leipzig. He helped the club to reach the semi-final of the Champions League in 2019/20. The performances of Leipzig in the Bundesliga were impressive as his team played good football without compromising defensive solidity. Die Roten had to work hard to clinch Bundesliga titles due to significant improvement shown by Leipzig under Nagelsmann.
The German manager couldn’t win silverware at his previous clubs. Leipzig fell short in DFB Pokal final against Borussia Dortmund last season. Nagelsmann will have a good chance to break this duck at Die Roten, but he will have to live with the pressure of winning titles since the Bavarian club has won nine Bundesliga titles in a row.
Nagelsmann is yet to work with the entire squad as multiple senior players are still on vacation. The German Champions started the pre-season with 3-2 defeat against FC Koln, but few youngsters shone during this game. Nagelsmann will be looking forward to getting the entire squad for the remaining three pre-season games as Die Roten kicks off the Bundesliga title defense in mid-August with a trip to Borussia Monchengladbach.
