The last couple of summer transfer windows have seen less speculation surrounding the future of Robert Lewandowski at Bayern Munich. The Polish striker was desperate to leave Bavaria in 2018, but Rekordmeister stood firm and entertained no offers for him.

After enjoying two successful seasons, there is once again talk about Lewandowski’s future at the club. According to AS, Lewandowski remains keen on fulfilling the dream of playing for Real Madrid in his career. The Spanish club has been heavily linked with the Polish striker for numerous seasons.

The Spanish media outlet insists that a transfer is unlikely to happen this summer. Real Madrid is struggling with finances this summer. Moreover, reports in Spain have consistently suggested that Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe is the priority for Real Madrid this summer.

From Die Roten’s perspective, the club chiefs have already made it clear that Lewandowski is not going anywhere. The Polish striker is also unlikely to agitate for a move when Real Madrid is not in a financial state to make a move.

More from Bayern Strikes

Even though Lewandowski is showing no signs of decline, the German Champions will have to start planning for the future. One report in Germany this summer has already insisted that Rekordmeister is keenly following the situation of Erling Haaland at Borussia Dortmund. The Norwegian striker reportedly has a release clause worth €75 million next summer.

For Robert Lewandowski, next summer could be the right time to look for a new adventure. The Pole will have only one year left on his contract, so interested clubs will not have to pay a big fee for him. It remains to be seen whether Die Roten will be open to handing a new deal if he wants to retire at the club.

Chelsea and Manchester City were linked with Robert Lewandowski earlier this summer. Considering the impact of the pandemic on the transfer budget, there was no chance Die Roten would have parted ways with him. Moreover, there are no replacements for Lewandowski in the current transfer market for a decent transfer fee.

The Poland international has previously expressed excitement about the prospect of working with Julian Nagelsmann at Die Roten. He will be reporting to Sabner Strasse by the end of the month to begin pre-season training under Nagelsmann. The young German manager has reportedly given him a longer break to be completely fresh for the new season. Real Madrid might be one of Lewandowski’s dream clubs, but he will certainly be playing in Bavaria next season.
