In the last few months of last season, German media consistently reported that Bayern Munich are looking to improve the midfield options by signing a young player. Lately, talk about midfield addition has gone quiet with right-back and winger emerging as priority positions.

Earlier this week, reports in France suggested that Bayern remains in the race for Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga. However, Manchester United is currently in the driving seat, as per Fabrizio Romano. The youngster has entered the final 12 months of contract at Rennes and shown no signs of extending the deal. The French club will be forced to cash in this summer.

RMC in France has suggested that Rennes could be looking to get €40 million for the talented teenager. It might look like a steep fee for a teenager, but considering the talent Eduardo Camavinga possesses, it may well look like a bargain in the long run.

Die Roten have a smaller budget for transfers this summer due to losses incurred by COVID 19. However, the German Champions cannot afford to miss out on a top talent like Camavinga. Moreover, the prospect of the young midfielder improving under Julian Nagelsmann is nothing but mouthwatering.

More from Bayern Strikes

Eduardo Camavinga will add more edge and bite to the midfield

Camavinga made his debut for Rennes in Ligue 1 at the age of 16 in 2018. The youngster has firmly established himself first-choice midfielder at Rennes in the last two seasons. His good performances have also helped him to earn three caps for France at the age of 18.

The French starlet is known for his ability to carry the ball from midfield to attack. He often drops deep to collect the ball and then increases the tempo of the game by moving it swiftly in the final third through his dribbling. Even though he is just 18, Camavinga can withstand challenges and does not shy away from defensive duties in the center of the park.

Camavinga’s wide array of skillset allows him to play in numerous midfield positions. He can be moulded into a specific role as he gets older. The French midfielder’s allround ability on and off the ball makes him an exciting prospect. Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka are quality midfielders, but the arrival of Camavinga will give another dimension to the midfield department at Die Roten.

Bayern had endured poor results in terms of signing exciting midfield signings in the past few years. Renato Sanches struggled to kick on at the club, while Mickael Cuisance is also likely to leave Bavaria soon. The improvement of Sanches at Lille does suggest that Die Roten did get a serious talent from Benfica, but things didn’t go as planned.

Despite the poor results from recent midfield signings, Rekordmeister should always look at younger players in this position. Camavinga has the talent to establish himself in one of the best midfielders in Europe, so Die Roten should try to do everything possible to get him to Allianz Arena.
