Bayern Munich players in the French National team suffered a shock defeat against Switzerland in the round of 16 of Euro 2020 on Monday. Along with demoralising defeat for players, Die Roten also suffered a blow on the injury front during this game.
Kingsley Coman struggled with muscular injury during extra time against the Swiss. The French winger carried on for some time after going down in the Swiss box, but Didier Deschamps eventually replaced him with Marcus Thuram late in the game.
It remains to be seen whether Coman made the injury worse by staying on the pitch. There has been no update from the French Federation regarding his injury. Coman may have to report at Sabner Strasse to know the extent of the injury before going on holiday for few weeks. He will be joining late in the pre-season training along with other international players that featured in Euro 2020.
Coman had a decent game against Swiss on the left flank after coming on at halftime. He came very close to clinching the winner in the final minute of normal time. His thunderous volley rattled the post, and the game went into the extra time.

Apart from Coman, Benjamin Pavard was another Bayern player that featured in this game. He had a poor game defensively as the Swiss were threatening from his flank. Pavard also ended up conceding a penalty early in the second half, but his skipper Hugo Lloris came to his rescue by saving the spot-kick.
Pavard has endured a very difficult second season in Bavaria. The difficult campaign ended up with poor performances for the French national team in Euro 2020. He will now get much-needed rest to recuperate and come back strongly next season. The German Champions are looking to bring proper competition for him in the right-back position this summer. It will not be necessarily bad news for Pavard as the new arrival will push him further to get better.
Corentin Tolisso and Lucas Hernandez didn’t feature in the game against Switzerland. Hernandez was a doubt for this clash after suffering an injury against Portugal in the last group game. Tolisso had started only one game at Euro 2020 for France during 2-2 draw against Portugal.
The exit for France will mean that more rest for Die Roten’s French contingent. However, the defeat against Switzerland does leave a bad taste for all French players. Meanwhile, Rekordmeister’s German players will be in action against England later today.
