The hype for the clash between Germany and England is growing as the matchday inches closer. It is probably the biggest game in the round of 16 fixtures of Euro 2020, along with the clash between Portugal and Belgium. The clash at Wembley Stadium will involve numerous Bayern Munich players.

Serge Gnabry is one of the many Bayern players that are certainly going to start against England. The German winger has been part of the fluid front three that includes Thomas Muller and Kai Havertz.

Gnabry has been prolific for Germany until Euro 2020. He has managed to score 16 goals in 25 appearances for Germany. However, he is yet to open his account in the European Championship despite delivering positive performances.

The round of 16 will be an ideal opportunity for Gnabry to get the first goal of the tournament. Gnabry will be playing in London, where he enjoyed good returns during the treble-winning campaign with Die Roten. While talking to media this week (via Sky Sport), Gnabry admitted that he is looking forward to emulating a similar performance in the German kit.

"“Whenever I came back to London, I have scored. Hopefully, it works the same way on Tuesday. There is always a lot of history involved. I am looking forward to playing at Wembley.”"

More from Bayern Strikes

Gnabry had a sensational night when Die Roten faced Tottenham Hotspurs in London during the group stage of the Champions League two years ago. Rekordmeister clinched a memorable 7-2 victory against Spurs, with Gnabry scoring four goals in the game.

In the Champions League round of 16 during the same campaign, Serge Gnabry scored twice at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea. The German international has a history with London as he spent time at Arsenal during his youth days and also made his Premier League debut under Arsene Wenger.

After a successful 2019/20 campaign, Gnabry endured a dip in form during last season. He started the season brilliantly with a hattrick against Schalke at Allianz Arena. However, his performances were inconsistent throughout the year. He ended the season with 11 goals and three assists across all competitions. A good Euro 2020 campaign will be the ideal springboard for Gnabry to get back to his best for Bayern next season.

Germany will need Serge Gnabry at their best to beat England. Even though England has previously done poorly in the knockout stages of Euro 2020, the current squad has some of the best players in the world. Since the spine of the German starting XI involves players from Die Roten, it will be the game to watch for the Bavarian faithful on Tuesday.
