Bayern Munich: Leon Goretzka set to start for Germany on Tuesday
The next two days of Euro 2020 are set to witness a lot of Bayern Munich players taking on the field. The club’s French players will be taking on Switzerland on Monday, while Germany will face England at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday. The latest reports give a positive update on the chances of two Bayern players getting starts in these games.
According to Bild, Leon Goretzka is set to start his first Euro 2020 game against England. The German midfielder is likely to replace Ilkay Gundogan. Due to an injury, Gundogan was training individually on Sunday. Joachim Low will not take risks regarding his fitness and hand a start to Goretzka.
Leon Goretzka also shone when he came on during 2-2 draw against Hungary in the last group game. He scored the much-needed equaliser to help Germany to book a place in the first knockout stage of the tournament.
There were few doubts regarding Goretzka’s availability for group games. He missed the last couple of gameweeks for Die Roten at the end of last season. The German midfielder trained individually at training camp before joining the group just before the game against Hungary.

Leon Goretzka will provide a lot of dynamism in the central midfield against England. He has an incredible engine and also has the knack of scoring important goals by arriving late in the box. Considering the amazing quality of the English attack, Goretzka will have a big role to play if he starts in central midfield.
Meanwhile, the French squad has also received a big boost before the round of 16 clash. While talking to the media, Didier Deschamps confirmed that Lucas Hernandez will be available for the game against Switzerland. The French defender had limped off at half-time in the final group game against Portugal.
Apart from these two players, there are no other injury worries in the remaining Bayern contingent at Euro 2020. Jamal Musiala and Thomas Muller had small injury issues, but they are now completely fit to feature in the remaining games. Both of them came on for Germany in the second half against Hungary. Musiala should be getting more minutes against England, while Muller will certainly start at Wembley.
Benjamin Pavard took a blow on the head during the first group game against Germany, but he has been training with the main squad. It remains to be seen whether he will return to the starting XI as Deschamps had used Jules Kounde in the right-back position against Portugal.
