Germany was running havoc in the final third against Portugal over the weekend to clinch a memorable result in front of home fans at Allianz Arena. Amidst the chaos, the calmness of Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich in the right-back position stood out as he was creating chances from a right-back position.

The German midfielder had a difficult outing against France as he found it difficult to cope with the pace of French midfielders and forwards, but he still managed to create good chances from the right-back position. Kimmich also things spot on against France by improving his positional awareness without sacrificing creativity from the right flank.

Kimmich was consistently finding the runs made by opposite full-back Robin Gosens throughout the game against Portugal. Gosen stole the show for playing a vital role in three goals on Saturday, but Kimmich was equally important for Germany on the day.

The 26-year-old Die Roten midfielder got one assist to his name and created a couple of glorious chances for Germany at Allianz Arena. The ability to rectify errors from the previous game in not his favoured position makes Kimmich an unbelievably valuable player for Germany and Bayern.

Bayern Munich should look to seal the future of Kimmich as soon as possible

Saturday’s performance against Portugal once again proved that Kimmich is the best versatile player in Europe. He can come up with quality performances in the holding midfield role, right-back, and center-back positions. Considering his ability to play the killer pass, Kimmich could possibly do well in the attacking midfield role.

Joshua Kimmich is going to be the heartbeat of Germany and Die Roten for at least four more years. With peak years of career ahead of him, Kimmich is going to get even better for club and country. In such a scenario, Rekordmeister needs to make sure that the peak years of Kimmich’s years are spent in Bavaria.

The 26-year-old German midfielder has two years left on his current deal in Munich. Considering the way the club has approached contract renewals in the past two years, Kimmich’s situation needs addressing as soon as possible. The German Champions cannot afford Kimmich entering the final year of his deal.

Germany looks set to qualify for knock-out stages from the group of death after a remarkable win against Portugal.
