Bayern Munich: Denzel Dumfries will be perfect signing for Julian Nagelsmann
Bayern Munich is reportedly looking to improve options in the right-back position this summer. Benjamin Pavard is a solid right-back, but the German club needs stronger competition for the Frenchman after Bouna Sarr failed to impress in the first season at the club.
According to numerous reports in Germany, Rekordmeister is eager to part ways with Sarr and bring in a new right-back this summer. Sky Sports in Germany reported last weekend that Die Roten has a good amount of interest in PSV Eindhoven’s Denzel Dumfries. Rekordmeister has already been in touch with Mino Raiola for Dumfries, but his release clause worth €15 million could prove to be an obstacle in this transfer.
Dumfries has been brilliant for the Netherlands at Euro 2020. The 25-year-old full-back has been one of the top scorers in the tournament, with two goals in three games. With his performances getting better in the tournament, there will be a lot more suitors for him.
Dumfries will fit perfectly in Nagelsmann’s system at Bayern Munich
It has been widely reported in Germany that Julian Nagelsmann is planning to implement a three-man defense at Die Roten. The incoming German manager will be deploying three center-backs with two wing-backs providing the width in this system.

Alphonso Davies is the perfect outlet for Rekordmeister on the left flank if Nagelsmann makes this switch. The Canadian winger provides the perfect balance between attack and defense on that flank. Meanwhile, new signing Omar Richards will provide perfect competition for Davies after showing good attacking prowess at Reading FC last season.
Dumfries will execute a similar role on the right-hand side of the defense. In the ongoing Euro 2020, Frank De Boer has been using Dumfries in this position. He has been a perfect attacking outlet on the right flank through his well-timed runs. Moreover, he has good delivery and shot in his locker to be an adequate player in the final third.
For PSV Eindhoven, Dumfries was involved in ten goals across all competitions. This is exactly the type of output Rekordmeister is looking at on the right flank. Dumfries may not be the ideal right-back, but Die Roten will have the option of using Benjamin Pavard in such situations.
Considering the price mentioned for Dumfries, it is an exceptionally good deal for Rekordmeister to turn down. However, the German Champions will have to find a buyer for Sarr before completing a deal for Dumfries. Since the Dutchman’s performances are getting better with each passing game at Euro 2020, Die Roten will have to move quickly to complete this transfer.
