Bayern Munich showing strong resolve in contract talks with Kingsley Coman
In the last 18 months, Bayern Munich had to make some difficult decisions regarding contract negotiations with key players. When Thiago Alcantara rejected the contract offer, the German club decided to sell him instead of keeping him for one more year. They also withdrew offers from the table for David Alaba since his wage demands were excessive. Die Roten is reportedly taking a similar strong stance.
According to SportBild’s Christian Falk, contract talks between Bayern and Coman have completely stopped. The German journalist even went on to say that Rekordmeister will be open to listening to super offers for the French winger.
After Falk’s revelation on Wednesday, Fussball Transfers have reported that Manchester United and Chelsea are interested in the French winger. This report also insists that the German club will be looking for a fee close to €100 million for Coman in this transfer window.
Earlier in June, it was widely reported that Coman has brought Pini Zahavi to his entourage for negotiations for a new deal and potentially bring offers from other big European clubs. Zahavi was also leading negotiations for Alaba and Robert Lewandowski for contract renewals at the German club.

In Coman’s situation, it does look like both parties are not trying to buckle down. Rekordmeister cannot afford to break the wage structure while extending the contract of one of the young players. They are absolutely justified to take such a rigid stance to make sure that the order is maintained in the wage bill.
However, Die Roten once again leaving it late regarding contract talks makes the situation difficult for them. Kingsley Coman currently has two years left on his contract. The German champions will have to sell him for a cut-price offer next summer if the contract offer is not sorted in the next 12 months. Coman’s position in negotiation is stronger at the moment.
Kingsley Coman reportedly wants closer to €20 million and becomes one of the top earners at the club. Meanwhile, reports suggest that Rekordmeister is ready to offer €13 million. There is a considerable gap between both parties, so negotiations are likely to drag on.
Having said that, it will be a huge surprise if Kingsley Coman leaves the club this summer. Manchester United is focusing on Jadon Sancho, while Chelsea has other positions to address. Despite Coman’s remarkable form in the last 12 months, it is unlikely that any club forks out the fee demanded by Rekordmeister. The next six months will be key for Coman’s long-term future in Bavaria.
