Bayern Munich could bring back Sven Ulreich in summer
Bayern Munich will be eager to resolve the goalkeeping situation early in the summer transfer window. The German champions have to make a decision regarding the immediate future of young goalkeeper Alexander Nubel. It does look like Die Roten may have to sanction a loan move for Alexander Nubel.
According to Sky Sports in Germany, Sven Ulreich could be inching towards a return to Bayern this summer. Ulreich is likely to replace Nubel in the short term before the young goalkeeper returns from a possible loan spell in the future. Apart from Sky, multiple German outlets have also confirmed this development in the goalkeeping department at Die Roten.
Ulreich left Die Roten last season to join Hamburg. Despite having a couple of seasons left on his contract at Hamburg, Ulreich has reached an agreement to terminate this deal. Ulreich’s move to Bavaria will hinge on the departure of Nubel.
Nubel struggled to get consistent playing time in Munich after joining the club Schalke last summer. The German Champions reportedly want him to keep at the club, but Nubel wants to get more playing time next season after warming the bench in the last 12 months.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper needs to play consistently after getting vital experience in training with Neuer during last season. There has been significant interest from French clubs, while Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig have also been credited with an interest in the young German shot-stopper.
Rekordmeister has been linked with Arminia Bielefeld’s Stefan Ortega. However, bringing in Ulreich will be a much more feasible transfer for Die Roten. The budget for the summer transfer window is tight, so spending a fee on a deputy goalkeeper doesn’t make sense. Moreover, Sven Ulreich has significant experience of playing at Bayern.
Sven Ulreich enjoyed a successful spell in his first spell at Rekordmeister. During his five-year tenure at the club, Ulreich featured in 70 games. He was a solid backup to Neuer. In the 2017/18 campaign, Ulreich played 47 games when Neuer was sidelined due to a serious injury. His experience will be handy next season. Most importantly, Ulreich is likely to be content with being back up to the best goalkeeper in the world.
Die Roten could have significant upheaval in the goalkeeping department this summer. Christian Fruchtl could go out on loan again after a poor spell at FC Nurnberg last season. Meanwhile, Ron-Thorben Hoffmann is likely to leave Die Roten permanently despite getting his contract extended by a year.
