Ever since it has been clear that Bayern Munich wants to improve the midfield department, the German club has been linked with numerous midfielder in the past few months. However, Florian Neuhaus and Eduardo Camavinga are the two names that have been persistently linked with a move to Bavaria.

Neuhaus is considered one of the best young midfielders in the Bundesliga. He has consistently got better ever since making his debut in the first team at Gladbach. Along with Die Roten, reports have suggested this season that other top clubs have also shown interest in Neuhaus.

Earlier this week, murmurs in German media suggested that Neuhaus already has an agreement with Die Roten for a transfer in 2022. The young midfielder is contracted with Borussia Monchengladbach until 2024 with a reported release clause of €40 million.

Neuhaus is currently at the German camp preparing for his first big tournament with Germany. He has quickly dismissed reports hinting that an agreement has been reached with Dire Roten for a transfer in the next summer window. While talking to TZ’s Manuel Bonke, Neuhaus said he is comfortable and feeling good at Gladbach.

"“I’ve not signed a contract anywhere except at Borussia Monchengladbach. I feel very comfortable there at the moment.”"

More from Bayern Strikes

On the back of reports of Neuhaus agreeing to a deal with Die Roten, Bild (via iMiaSanMia) reported that midfield is no longer a priority for this summer. The German Champions are looking at right-back and wide-forward positions to strengthen this summer as per this report.

Considering the hefty release clause of Neuhaus, signing him this summer becomes unrealistic for Die Roten. The German Champions have already spent an excess of €40 million for Dayot Upamecano, so the other arrivals are likely to arrive at budget prices. Rekordmeister is eager to spend wisely this summer since fans have not been at Allianz for more than 12 months, so finances are stretched.

In case if there is substance in rumours about Neuhaus, it is unlikely to be a concrete agreement and more like a gentleman’s agreement. One season is a long time to conclude such an expensive transfer in advance since there are various factors that could jeopardize this move.

Moreover, Die Roten definitely needs a midfielder this summer. Javi Martinez and David Alaba provided cover in midfield, but both have left the club. Bringing one midfielder would be vital to have an ample amount of depth in this position for next season. More departures will hold the key in Bayern spending big money on one player.
