The fans of the German National team finally got the good news of Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller back in the squad. The veteran forward was brought back into the fold by Joachim Low after two years.

Earlier this week, Muller arrived at the training camp in Seefeld. On the back of two tremendous seasons with Die Roten, Muller is going to be an important player for Germany. He will definitely provide an edge to the squad that has struggled for consistent results and performances in the past couple of years.

Muller is likely to go straight in the starting XI during Euro 2020. The German forward has been the creative force for Die Roten in the last two seasons. He managed 39 assists across two seasons to help the German Champions to win the sextuple.

After exploits with Die Roten, Muller is focussed on performing well for Germany as he has done over the years. While talking to media on Sunday (via Goal), Muller is confident about Germany’s chances despite a difficult group. The 31-year-old forward believes that he has seen enough desire and talent in the current squad.

"“It will be a great, euphoric time and there will be some really passionate moments for our country. The group won’t just be a stroll in the park, however.“When I see the quality in this team, I feel a desire to wake German football from its slumber. I am happy that I have the chance to do that. It’s why we’re here.”"

More from Bayern Strikes

Muller has been a key player for Low over the years. He was part of the team that lifted World Cup 2014 in Brazil. The German manager decided to rely on younger players after the failure at World Cup 2018 in Russia. Along with Jerome Boateng and Mats Hummels, Muller was axed from the squad.

The arrival of Muller proved to be the perfect tonic for Muller to reinvent himself. He thrived under the German manager and became one of the most creative forward in Europe. This season Muller has also chipped in with crucial goals for Rekordmeister. He comes into the German squad in terrific form, so Low will be hoping for the last hurrah as he will step down as German manager after Euro 2020.

Along with Muller, Mats Hummels is also back in the squad for Euro 2020. The veteran defender has been in good form for Borussia Dortmund this season. Hummels will bring leadership at the back, while Muller’s presence in the final third will make team even more dangerous.

Jerome Boateng was unfortunate to miss out on the squad. The German defender had retired from football after Low axed him from the squad, but he would have done a u-turn if DFB decided to recall him. Similar to Muller, Boateng had also enjoyed a similar upturn in form when Flick was appointed as head coach at Bayern in 2019.
