Bayern Munich has few decisions to make in the goalkeeping department in the summer transfer window. There is also a good possibility of upheaval in this department even though undisputed number one will be Manuel Neuer next season. The situation of goalkeepers will depend on Alexander Nubel.
Nubel has been frustrated with very less playing time in his debut season after arriving from Schalke on a free transfer last season. According to SportBild (via iMiaSanMia), Die Roten wants to keep Nubel at the club even though the goalkeeper wants a loan move. This report insists that German Champions do not want to spend money on a new goalkeeper despite being linked with Arminia Bielefeld’s Stefan Ortega.
In the last couple of months, there has been intense speculation surrounding the immediate future of Nubel. He will not be sold, but a two-year loan has been tipped as the ideal solution for the young goalkeeper. The young shot-stopper needs more playing time to continue his development.
While talking to FussballTransfers on Wednesday, Nubel’s agent Stefan Backs confirmed that the club is on the same page with them regarding the goalkeeper’s future. Backs had previously insisted that the Bavarian club had proposed the best possible package, including plans for playing time when he was leaving Schalke.

Lille had reportedly opened talks with Die Roten for a loan deal. The Ligue 1 Champions have agreed to a deal for the departure of Mike Maignan, so they will be in the market for a new goalkeeper. Apart from Lille, Monaco and Marseille have also reportedly shown interest in Nubel.
In the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig have been credited with interest in Nubel. It has been previously reported that Nubel would like to move away from Germany. In such a scenario, it will be better for Die Roten since their rivals will be strengthened due to the signing of Nubel.
Neuer has shown no signs of slowing down. He enjoyed a terrific season with Die Roten despite having not many clean sheets to show. Neuer is likely to remain the first-choice goalkeeper at the club next season, so Nubel should try to get a loan move and come back to Bavaria later to get the number one position.
Alternatively, the German Champions will have to find an amicable solution by convincing Neuer to give up few games from next season for Alexander Nubel. Nevertheless, playing time is crucial for Nubel at this stage of his career. The next decision for Nubel is going to be largely impacted by the plans Die Roten has for him.
