Bayern Munich is taking necessary steps to avoid another situation like David Alaba and Thiago Alcantara. Allowing players to go into the final year of contract creates a lot of headache for the club hierarchy. Kingsley Coman could be the next player in line to get a new deal since he has only two years left on his current contract.
It has been previously reported that Rekordmeister faces tricky negotiations with Coman after the first offer from them didn’t convince the player. The latest update from Germany reveals further details about Coman’s demands and interest from two Premier League clubs.
According to Fussball Transfers, Chelsea and Manchester United are interested in signing Coman from Die Roten. The French winger is looking at wages in the region of 16-17 million. Meanwhile, SportBild (via Sport Witness) has also reported this week that Man Utd remains interested in Coman. The Red Devils will be open to offering big wages to move to Manchester.
Coman was subject to interest from Man United last summer as they considered him as an alternative for top target Jadon Sancho. However, the transfer never materialised as the two clubs didn’t even hold talks to make the move possible.

The French winger has been one of the key players for Die Roten this season. After scoring the winner against PSG in the Champions League final last season, Coman kept on improving his decision-making in the final third. In the past few seasons, he used to do all right things, but fumble the final pass/cross. He stepped up this season and looks destined to finish with nine goals and 11 assists across all competitions. (Stats courtesy: Whoscored)
Coman also is the only traditional winger in the squad that can hold the width consistently. Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry are terrific wide players, but they like to cut inside more often than Coman. The French international is definitely one of the key players for Rekordmeister after terrible luck with injuries in the last few seasons.
Die Roten will be looking to extend his contract by the end of 2021 to avoid a scenario where they will have to sell him for a cut-price deal. However, the German club will surely not break the wage structure to meet Coman’s demands.
As of now, there is no cause of concern for Die Roten regarding Coman’s new deal. The French winger looks happy at the club and continues to get game time. There will be interest from English clubs, but Bayern has an ambitious project, so they can definitely convince a young player like Kingsley Coman.
