Bayern Munich is set to witness a managerial change in the summer as RB Leipzig head coach Julian Nagelsmann is set to replace Hansi Flick. The young German manager was confirmed as coach at the end of April after Die Roten agreed to a world record fee with RB Leipzig.

Along with the departure of Flick, there will be changes in the first-team coaching staff. One of the confirmed departures from the staff is Miroslav Klose. The former Bayern striker has been an assistant coach to Flick during the 2020/21 season.

Klose returned to Bavaria two years ago. Before joining the first team, Klose had worked with the youth team in the head coach role. Flick decided to include him in the first team coaching setup at the end of the 2019/20 season.

The decision regarding the future of Klose was going to be taken this summer since his contract expires at the end of the current campaign. While talking to Kicker last weekend, Klose confirmed that he will be leaving Bavaria in the summer. The former German international also insisted that he has many exciting options on the table.

"“What happens to me and where I will be in the next season is still entirely up to me. I have a very clear plan. And I think Olli Kahn knows that very well. And he also knows that I won’t be here next season.”“There are several exciting options and I am sure that a decision will be made soon about what I will do in the coming season.”"

More from Bayern Strikes

Klose achieved some incredible results while coaching the youth team at Die Roten. However, moving away from the club is likely the right decision for him to grow as a coach. The next step for him will be to get a bigger coaching role at the next club. If Klose continues to progress well as a coach, then eventually he will return to Bavaria.

Along with Klose, there is going to be another high-profile departure in the coaching staff. Kicker has confirmed that after 25 years at the club,  Hermann Gerland will also leave in the summer. The veteran coach also told Bild about his decision to leave the club. Gerland is not retiring from football, but his long stint at Die Roten is coming to an end.

Nagelsmann is going to bring his set of coaches to the club. The German manager reportedly wants to bring Alfred Schreuder to the club in the summer. Schreuder has worked with Nagelsmann at Hoffenheim, but he is currently working as an assistant coach for Ronald Koeman in Barcelona.

With a new head coach, a new group of coaches arrives, so Nagelsmann is well within his rights to have his team. However, keeping an experienced head like Hermann would have helped him to settle at the club. Hermann’s experience would have also helped him to get decisions right in tricky situations since this is going to be the biggest job in his career.
