Bayern Munich will go into the summer transfer window in search of a midfield signing. Various German outlets have consistently reported in the past couple of months that Rekordmeister wants to improve midfield options for next season. Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga is reportedly one of the midfield options for the German Champions.

Die Roten is likely to face competition for the signing of teenage midfield sensation. According to Marca, Real Madrid is also interested in signing Camavinga in the summer. This report also insists that Arsenal is also in the race, but Bayern is currently in the driver’s seat to sign the French international.

In the last two weeks, Paris Saint-Germain has also linked with Camavinga. The youngster has only one year left on his contract at Rennes, so the French club is likely to cash in this summer. The contract situation will make sure that the transfer fee for the teenager will not be high compared to other top-class midfielders in Europe.

Camavinga has been touted as the next big midfield talent in Europe. He had a patchy season with Rennes, but with more time and experience, the 18-year-old midfielder has the potential to be one of the best in his position. The Frenchman already has a cap for the national team under his belt.

More from Bayern Strikes

Die Roten will have two fewer midfield options next season as Javi Martinez and David Alaba will be leaving after the end of their contracts in June. Both players predominantly played in the heart of the defense but remained two very good options in the center of the park.

Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka are first-choice pivot midfielders, while Marc Roca will be a squad option next season after a difficult debut campaign. Corentin Tolisso has blown hot and cold ever since returning from a serious ACL injury in 2019. Reports in Germany have suggested that Tolisso could leave the club in the summer.

Tolisso’s departure will raise necessary funds for the new arrival. He was on the sidelines from February due to an injury but made his return on Saturday against Freiburg. Since he is completely fit now, a summer departure is looking back on the table for the French midfielder.

Die Roten has endured rotten luck with young midfielders in the last four years. However, the opportunity to sign Camavinga is too good to turn down. If Rekordmeister manages to get him for less than €40 million, then it will look like a massive coup in few years.
