Bayern Munich is likely to search for a right-back in the transfer window that can also operate as a wing-back under Julian Nagelsmann. The German Champions have been heavily linked with Real Madrid’s Lucas Vazquez, but this move is unlikely to happen if the latest reports are to be believed.
According to Spox, Die Roten had offered €6 million per year to Vazquez in April, but the Spaniard was looking for an offer worth €8 million per year. This report also insists that Vazquez is now likely to stay at Real Madrid and sign a new contract.
Vazquez would have been a shrewd signing for Die Roten since there was no transfer fee involved in this deal. Moreover, the Spaniard can operate in multiple positions. Despite being a winger by trade, Vazquez has been adequately filling in the right-back position for Real Madrid in the last couple of seasons.
Since Rekordmeister is going to part ways with Douglas Costa at the end of the season, Vazquez would have also provided cover on the flanks. However, Die Roten has been cautious and careful about managing the wage bill at the club. The decision to not increase the offer is understandable as it will weaken their hand in contract negotiations.

Meanwhile, Spox also reported that Die Roten has a firm interest in Achraf Hakimi. However, the German champions will find it difficult to pay a big fee to Inter Milan to sign a young Moroccan wing-back. Hakimi attracted attention from numerous clubs after his breathtaking two-year spell at Borussia Dortmund.
Hakimi will allow Nagelsmann to play three-man defense at Bayern next season. However, Hakimi’s long-term contract at Inter will make it difficult for the German club to complete this deal. The club president Herber Hainer confirmed this week that there will be no more expensive signings at Die Roten during the summer transfer window.

The defending German Champions have already committed close to 42 million for RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano. The French defender will move to Bavaria at the end of the season. Apart from Upamecano, Reading FC defender Omar Richards will also join the club on a free transfer.
Die Roten may have to look for a budget signing to add depth in the right-back position. In case they fail to sign a new right-back, Bouna Sarr may also get more opportunities to prove himself next season. The French defender has struggled in his debut season, but a change of manager can complete a turnaround for him.
