Bayern Munich made a big decision this week as they granted the wish of Hansi Flick about terminating his contract. The German Champions moved quickly to seal his replacement by negotiating a world record fee with RB Leipzig for Julian Nagelsmann.
The young German manager is set to embark on a new era at the club. Nagelsmann will be tasked to get the best out of young players in the current squad and bring silverware to the club every season. He has managed to the first bit at other clubs, but he is yet to lift silverware. Nagelsmann will have the best resources in Germany at Bayern to get trophies.
Meanwhile, the appointment of Nagelsmann is also monumental in terms of the people who made this deal happen. According to SportBild, the majority of work to complete the deal for Nagelsmann was done by Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic.
Kahn is going to succeed Karl-Heinz Rummenigge at the end of 2020. The former German goalkeeper joined the board last year as he started working with Rummenigge to get to know about his future role. Kahn’s first step has surely helped in bringing stability in the coaching position as Nagelsmann is young and could stay at the club for a long time.

Meanwhile, Salihamidzic was also promoted to board last season. The former Die Roten player returned to Bavaria in 2017 to become the Sporting Director. He has been heavily scrutinised for some of his transfer dealings, but the club has always been happy with his work.
Salihamidzic and Hansi Flick were not on the same page regarding the squad planning. However, Brazzo’s big role in the appointment of Nagelsmann suggests that everyone is likely to be moving in the same direction regarding transfers. Nagelsmann will already have one RB Leipzig player at the club next season as Die Roten has agreed terms to sign Dayot Upamecano.
Apart from these two younger members at the board, Herbert Hainer was also elected as president after the departure of Uli Hoeness in 2019. KHR and Hoeness have worked brilliantly at the club over the years. Filling their boots is a big task, but they have started well by implementing a long-term plan by getting the most promising young German managerial talent.
As of now, the team’s focus will be on winning the Bundesliga. Flick will be leaving on a high as he can win second league title if Die Roten wins against Borussia Monchengladbach on May 8. Players get a much-needed break of two weeks before the final three league games.
