As promised by the hierarchy at Bayern Munich, the future of Hansi Flick was sorted after the game against Mainz. The German manager was granted his wish to terminate his contract in the summer. Meanwhile, Rekordmeister also reached an agreement with RB Leipzig for Julian Nagelsmann.
Flick is now free to decide the next step in his career. The worst kept secret in the last few weeks has been that DFB is eager to appoint him as the successor of Joachim Low. Earlier in March, Low had confirmed that Euros 2020 will be his last tournament as manager of the German National team. Since Low’s announcement, Flick had been consistently linked with this role.
After reaching an agreement with Die Roten regarding his departure, SID in Germany is reporting that Flick has started negotiations with DFB. The German manager has previously worked in a different role at DFB before moving to Bavaria two years ago, so it is not surprising to see him as the prime candidate for this role.
It was previously reported in Germany that Bayern was looking to get compensation for Flick from DFB. However, reports on Monday have suggested that Rekordmeister wants their association with Flick to end on a good note.

DFB will eventually return this favour to Die Roten. According to AZ, DFB is likely to arrange a friendly with Bayern. Money raised from that game will go to the club as compensation for terminating Flick’s contract.
Flick has enjoyed remarkable two years in Bavaria. After getting the interim role in November 2019, he immediately started churning out results with the first team. He brought back harmony in the squad as his man-management was getting plaudits from players in the current squad. Along with implementing high intensity in pressing to blow away teams, Hansi Flick also helped the team to grind out results in crucial games.
In his first complete season at the club, Flick helped the team to win the treble. He brought the Champions League trophy back to the club after seven years, an achievement that was not accomplished by the likes of Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti in the past decade.
Hansi Flick also managed to win the sextuple with Bayern by winning the Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup. It was first sextuple in the club’s history and second in Europe after Guardiola’s all-conquering Barcelona. The German manager will most likely end the season on a high by retaining the Bundesliga title. Die Roten needs only one win to seal the title.
