Bayern Munich agree fee with RB Leipzig for Julian Nagelsmann
Bayern Munich will be having a new manager from next season as they find a breakthrough in talks with RB Leipzig for Julian Nagelsmann. As per Bild and SportBild, Nagelsmann will sign a five-year deal with the club, and RB Leipzig will be getting €25 million including bonuses.
Multiple reports in Germany are suggesting that an official announcement from both clubs could come as soon as later today. The talks between the two clubs accelerated on Monday after Nagelsmann agreed personal terms with Die Roten.
It is a world record fee paid by a club to sign a manager from another club. Chelsea paid €16 million in 2011 to bring Andre Villas-Boas from Porto FC. Coincidently, the Portuguese manager was also a highly rated young manager in 2011, as Nagelsmann is right now.
Nagelsmann reportedly considers this as a dream move. The 33-year-old manager has been brought up in Bavaria and has always been a boyhood Bayern fan. After doing well at Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig, this is the next step in Nagelsmann’s career in the Bundesliga. He also proved himself in the Champions League by taking RB Leipzig to the semi-final last season.

The arrival of Nagelsmann will mean that Hansi Flick’s wish to leave Bavaria in summer will be granted. Flick publicly requested Bayern to terminate his contract after the win against Wolfsburg earlier in April. The 56-year-old is favourite to succeed Joachim Low at the German National team after Euros.
Reports in Germany late on Monday insisted that Die Roten and Flick wants to leave on amicable terms. Contrary to previous reports, Rekordmeister might terminate Flick’s contract instead of demanding a fee for him. DFB has always insisted that they will not be paying a fee to appoint a new manager.
For the last three years, Nagelsmann has been heavily linked with Rekordmeister. He will finally get the opportunity to manage his boyhood team from next season. Die Roten considers Nagelsmann as a long-term appointment due to his age and talent, so they have agreed to the demands of RB Leipzig.
Nagelsmann has not been under pressure to win trophies at Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig, but he always managed to overachieve with them. At Bayern, things will be different as he will be expected to deliver silverware every season. It is an exciting appointment that could help Die Roten to enjoy sustainable success for a long time.
