Bayern Munich is likely to be busy this summer as there are going to be some big changes in the squad. David Alaba, Javi Martinez, and Jerome Boateng are on their way out this summer. Along with outfield players, there is a possibility of upheaval in the goalkeeping department.
Manuel Neuer is firmly the number one in Bavaria. There is no doubt that Neuer will be the number one keeper next season. However, the number two and number three at the club could be different for Rekordmeister next season.
Alexander Nubel needs playing time after a rough debut season in Bavaria. It is difficult to get the nod ahead of Neuer, so Nubel has to settle for a role on the bench throughout the season. Nubel needs to get playing time next season, so he may get a move next summer. Monaco and Marseille have been linked with loan moves for Nubel.
Bayern’s third-choice goalkeeper Ron-Thorben Hoffman is also on his way out this summer. According to Sport1’s Florian Plettenberg, Die Roten is ready to take up the option to extend his deal by a year and then listen to offers for him. He also reports that Wolfsburg is showing interest in the young goalkeeper.

Hoffman is unlikely to get opportunities in the first team at Die Roten. He has been largely playing for reserves in the last few seasons despite training with the first. It is the right time for him to take the next step in his career and get a move to another Bundesliga club.
Meanwhile, Christian Fruchtl will also return to Bavaria in the summer. The German goalkeeper had joined FC Nurnberg on a season-long loan last season. The loan move has not been good for Fruchtl as he got next to zero playing time. It will be interesting to see whether Rekordmeister keeps him as number two or arrange a better loan spell for him.
Ever since reports have linked Nubel with a loan move, the German media has suggested that Die Roten may make a move for Arminia Bielefeld’s Stefan Ortega. The 28-year-old German goalkeeper will become deputy for Neuer if the move materialises.
Bayern has other areas to address in the summer, so spending a good fee on a goalkeeper doesn’t make sense. If they manage to come up with a plan where Nubel gets a considerable amount of game time next season, then Die Roten can keep him and avoid going into the market for a new keeper. The futures of Fruchtl and Hoffman does look away from Bavaria this summer.
