Bayern Munich host Bayer Leverkusen at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday for their second meeting of the season. In their first meeting, the two clubs produced a thrilling match that ended with Die Roten earning all three points on the road. Robert Lewandowski scored in second-half stoppage time to defeat Leverkusen.

Although Leverkusen are not in the four top four as they were in December, they still enter this match in the top half of the table in sixth place. This match promises to be another exciting match between two clubs in the top six. Here are three things to watch for ahead of Tuesday’s fixture.

Will Leroy Sane end his goal drought?

The last time Sane found the back of the net in a Bundesliga match was on Matchday 14 against Mainz. Since then, he’s been able to register assists but not goals. On Saturday against Wolfsburg, he tied his season-high shot total in the Bundesliga with four shots. However, Sane was unable to find the back of the net in the 3-2 victory.

After scoring three goals in his first five league appearances this season, Sane can still finish the campaign with a similar record in Bayern’s final five fixtures. The match against Leverkusen will likely offer Sane another opportunity to be in the starting 11 and end his goal drought. Bayern has had to turn to different sources of goals due to the absence of Lewandowski and this match might be the one where Sane delivers the goals for Die Roten.

More from Bayern Strikes

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting looks to continue goal scoring form

Choupo-Moting has scored three goals in his last four appearances in all competitions. He’s been making the most of his recent appearances in the starting 11 as he fills in for Lewandowski at striker.

Rekordmeister will need him to continue his recent goal-scoring form against Leverkusen and he’ll certainly be on the key players to watch for on Tuesday. Along with goals, Choupo-Moting has also got better with other aspects of a striker after getting game time under his belt. He will have to maintain this form for at least a couple more games before Lewandowski returns to action.

Leverkusen have struggled against the top four clubs

Since losing to Bayern in December, Leverkusen have not done well against the current top four clubs in the Bundesliga. They lost to Eintracht Frankfurt, RB Leipzig, and Wolfsburg by narrow margins in the weeks that followed their defeat to Bayern on Matchday 13.

A victory against Borussia Dortmund on Matchday 17 was a notable win but overall they have struggled against the top clubs in the league. With Bayern having yet to lose a match at home in the Bundesliga this season, it will be a difficult task for Leverkusen to earn three points on the road and their struggles against the top four clubs could continue.
