Bayern Munich was dealt a huge blow on Tuesday as Robert Lewandowksi was ruled out for up to four weeks. The star striker has been a key player for Bayern throughout the 2020/21 season with his incredible goal-scoring form in the Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League. Due to his absence in the coming weeks, other Bayern players will have to step up to fill the void left by Robert Lewandowski.

There really aren’t too many options for Die Roten as the club has just one other true striker in Eric Maxim Chopo-Moting. With Joshua Zirkzee on loan at Parma, this means other players who don’t regularly feature as a striker may have to fill in at this role during the coming weeks. Here are the three players who can help Bayern continue to score goals at a high rate.

Serge Gnabry

Gnabry has been picking up the pace when it comes to scoring goals. The winger has scored in four of his last six Bundesliga appearances and is nearing another double-digit goal-scoring season. With his good form continuing during the international break for Germany, Gnabry will be returning to Bayern looking for more goals.

One of the interesting things to watch for with Gnabry is if he will remain on the wing or if he could play as a striker. Gnabry has played as the frontman for Germany in recent matches. With Lewandowksi possibly being out for a total of seven fixtures, there could be an opportunity for Gnabry to play in the striker role in one of the many upcoming matches.

More from Bayern Strikes

Thomas Müller

Müller has been the only player aside from Robert Lewandowski to reach double digits in goal scoring in the Bundesliga for Die Roten. He can play as a false number nine which could be a role he is given in during Lewandowski’s absence.

Regardless of what role he plays, Rekordmeister will need their veteran playmaker to produce goals in the weeks to come. He has been one of the best offensive players for Die Roten this season. Without Lewandowski in the lineup, he will be leading the club offensively. Muller has previously lead the line for Germany and Die Roten in big games, so he also has the experience of coming up with clutch performances in this role.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting

Choupo-Moting has primarily been the second option at striker for the defending German Champions this season. He has started in just four of his 16 appearances in the Bundesliga. Most of the time he is entering as a second-half substitute and has scored three goals in all competitions in 21 appearances.

To be fair, Choupo-Moting tends to enter in the latter stages of matches which doesn’t offer many opportunities to record goals. For this reason, his goal record so far this season doesn’t necessarily indicate the impact he can have for Die Roten as a regular member of the starting 11. He can play a massive role in the coming weeks by scoring on a consistent basis and ensure that the goals keep coming for Bayern.
