After a year-long delay, Bayern Munich was finally able to land the first-choice transfer target win wide attacking position last summer. They quickly completed a deal with Manchester City to have Leroy Sane at Sabner Strasse as soon as possible.

Despite completing the transfer early in the summer, Die Roten and Hansi Flick had to carefully manage Sane’s game time. He was returning to action after being out for more than eight months due to a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Sane was often seen frustrated with less playing time under Flick during the first half of the season. However, the club’s careful integration of the German winger is reaping the rewards now. Sane is looking back to his best and getting more confident with every passing.

The improvement in the form at the club level has also helped Sane to perform for Germany. He has delivered two solid performances for the national team during this international break. While speaking to media on Tuesday (via Kicker), Joachim Low praised Sane for his offensive and defensive quality in the last two games.

"“He came back from a difficult injury, so he needs a certain amount of time to regain his best form. In the past two games he impressed me with extremely good situations defensively. He also has extra class in one against one situations.”"

More from Bayern Strikes

Leroy Sane was very efficient in the final third under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. He had managed to hit double figures for goals and assists during his penultimate season in Manchester. This season started slowly for him, but he is finally contributing more frequently in the final third.

The German winger currently has eight goals and nine assists across all competitions for Die Roten. Considering his talent and skillset, Sane should be targeting at least 15 goals and 15 assists in a season. For the time being, getting around ten goals and 15 assists by the end of May would be a good debut campaign for Sane in Bavaria.

The Bavarian faithful are likely to see the best of Sane next season. With the peak years of his career ahead of him, Sane is expected to get even better with his wing play and goal contributions in the final third. Flick will be hoping that Sane keeps up his good form ahead of some crucial fixtures in the Bundesliga and Champions League.

In terms of his chances with Germany, unless Leroy Sane suffers an injury, he is definitely going to be on the plane for Euros. He was unlucky to miss out on the World Cup in 2018. The German winger will be hoping to be a game-changer for club and country in the next three-four months.
