Bayern Munich: Marc Roca has no plans to leave in summer
Most of the incomings from last summer window at Bayern Munich have endured a difficult debut season. Leroy Sane and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting have been exceptions, but they also had a difficult period in terms of less playing time. Meanwhile, all other arrivals have found it difficult to get consistent game time this season.
Marc Roca is part of the group of players that arrived at the club in the final days of the window. The Spaniard was heavily linked with a move to Bavaria in 2019. Despite strong rumours, Roca ended up staying at Espanyol. After the Spanish club was relegated from La Liga last season, Rekordmeister completed the transfer.
The transfer has not gone according to plan for Roca. He has been consistently selected in matchday squads, but he is not getting minutes on the pitch. The Spanish midfielder also endured misfortune in one of the rare appearances when he was sent off against Red Bull Salzburg at Allianz Arena in the Champions League.
Despite managing only 303 minutes at Bayern until now, Roca is not thinking about seeking a move away from the club in the summer to get more game time. Speaking to Spox this week, Roca’s agent confirmed that the defensive midfielder will be in Bavaria next season.
"“Marc is neither thinking about leaving FC Bayern, nor has FC Bayern informed us that they want to let Marc go after this season. A departure in the summer is not up for discussion at all.”“Of course, every player wants a lot of match practice. But you have to consider that Marc only came to Munich in October. It would be crazy and unprofessional to discuss a loan right now.”"

Roca is still 24, and it is a big step up in his career, so patience is needed to see his best in Bavaria. He was one of the most impressive young defensive midfielders in La Liga during his time at Espanyol. With a good pre-season and learnings from this season, Roca should be getting more playing time next year.
Moreover, there will be fewer midfield options at Die Roten next season. Javi Martinez is leaving the club in June when his contract expires. Apart from Roca, Martinez is the only natural defensive midfielder in the squad. The former Athletic Bilbao midfielder has not played a lot this season, but Roca will be getting his share of playing time next season.
Flick has often used David Alaba this season when Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka were not available for selection. The Austrian defender’s contract at the club is also coming to an end in the summer, so one less competitor for Roca. With Goretzka and Kimmich reporting late for pre-season due to Euros, Roca will have a chance to impress in the early stages of the season.
Moreover, Corentin Tolisso also suffered a serious injury that could reportedly keep him out for six months. The Frenchman’s absence further improves chances of getting good game time for Marc Roca. The Spaniard has a complete peak of his career ahead of him, so Die Roten should be patient with him and slowly make him one of the key players of the squad.
