There have been consistent reports in the German media since the summer transfer window about the friction between Hasan Salihamidzic and Hansi Flick. It has been largely reported that both do not agree over transfers made over the summer at Bayern Munich.

In the last few weeks, German media reported that Flick and Salihamidzic were lately involved in a heated argument. The reports have also suggested that this friction could eventually see Flick leave the club in the summer.

The departure of any one of them would be catastrophic for Die Roten. The club hierarchy should step in to make sure that both are back on good terms and play a crucial role while moving the club forward.

It does seem like that the first step to mend this relationship has already taken. While talking to media after the win against Lazio this week (via DW Sports), Hansi Flick admitted that there had been arguments with Salihamidzic, but they have resolved the situation in the best interests of the club.

"“We have both approached each other and sorted it out, in the best interests of the club. It was a short conversation. Both of us are very optimistic for the rest of the season, for our future. It was important for both of us, for the team and the club.”"

Flick has been an incredible manager for the club in a very short space of time. The German manager has helped the club to get out of the turmoil midway through last season and guided them to a historic treble win. He also helped Die Roten to become the only second European club to win the sextuple.

Senior and young players like Flick’s style of management. Even the fringe players have spoken glowingly about Flick’s man-management. The likes of Jerome Boateng and Thomas Muller have got back to their best under Flick, while younger players also continue to shine under him in Bavaria.

Meanwhile, Hasan Salihamidzic has played a decisive role in getting some of the best talents at the club in the last three years. He has been often harshly criticised for not signing the top targets, but his overall record at the club has been positive. Salihamidzic’s good work was rewarded for his good work through promotion to the board by the club.

Yes, the last summer window has not turned out to be successful, but the pandemic made it difficult for the club. Despite financial losses, they managed to add decent depth. Brazzo and Flick are equally important for the club to enjoy stability on and off the pitch. They have done extremely well in their roles, so the German club needs to take steps to bring them on the same page.
