Bayern Munich: Alexander Nubel emerges loan target for Monaco
Bayern Munich will have to make a difficult decision surrounding the goalkeeping situation in the squad. Manuel Neuer continues to deliver consistent performances and remains one of the best goalkeepers in the world. With the experienced keeper staying at the club, Alexander Nubel may have to look for a solution to get more playing time next season.
The young goalkeeper still has a long-term future in Bavaria, so a loan move is the only option for him. According to Kicker, Monaco has emerged as a potential destination for Nubel next season. However, the French club wants to sign the former Schalke goalkeeper on a two-year loan deal.
Nubel arrived at Bayern last summer on a free transfer from Schalke. The German Champions had beaten competition from various top clubs in Europe to sign Nubel, but question marks were always there whether he will get enough playing time in Bavaria.
Things have not gone as per plans for Nubel as he has struggled to get playing time this season. He has managed to get only two appearances until now. This situation has not been Nubel’s fault as Neuer has been performing at an incredible level week in week out this season. Dislodging Neuer is a difficult task for any goalkeeper, let alone a young German shot-stopper.

Nubel’s agent had recently admitted that the young player needs minutes. A solution that will benefit all parties should be a priority in the summer after the comments from Nubel’s agent. Die Roten cannot afford to have the young keeper getting minimal playing time next season.
If Die Roten wants to keep Nubel for next season, then they should make sure that he gets at least 10-15 Bundesliga games or starts every cup game. Training with Neuer would have certainly helped Nubel this season, but the next step for him at Bayern will be to consistently play important games.
Rekordmeister did the right thing by signing Nubel last summer since they need to put in plans for Neuer’s long-term successor. However, the execution of plans after signing Nubel have lacked conviction. The young keeper should now make sure that his loan destination is right to continue his development.
As of now, Nubel will be hoping to get some games under his belt before the end of the season. He could be in line to play in the important second leg of the round of 16 CL clash against Lazio on Wednesday.
