In the past few seasons, Bayern Munich has intensified the recruitment of players from different continents. They are consistently bringing young players for trials at the club. As per recent reports, Rekordmeister is showing interest in 19-year-old USL talent Jose Gallegos. The San Antonio FC player is set to train with Die Roten for two weeks.

Additionally, a potential transfer is in the works as reported by The Athletic’s Paul Tenorio. Gallegos was a finalist for the USL Championship Young Player of the Year award for 2020 and is a very promising player.

Bayern looking for another talent from North American leagues

If Bayern does indeed sign Gallegos it will be another signing from a Texas club. Justin Che from FC Dallas was signed in February and Chris Richards was also a member of Dallas’ youth system. Then of course there is Alphonso Davies who played for the Vancouver Whitecaps and has turned out to be one of the best signings in recent years.

While Gallegos’ club does play in the United States’ second division and not Major League Soccer, the USL clubs have begun to develop players capable of signing for clubs in Europe’s top divisions.

For example, Orange County SC talent Bryang Kayo was signed by Wolfsburg during the 2020 summer transfer window. Gallegos has plenty of potential and it would not be surprising to see him become the latest USL player to make a move to a top Bundesliga club.

More from Bayern Strikes

A player who can create chances

Gallegos led the way for San Antonio when it came to creating chances during the 2020 campaign. He finished the season with 27 chances created and was tied for 14th in the Western Conference in this statistical category. The attacking midfielder concluded the 2020 USL Championship regular season with two goals and three assists in 16 appearances.

One of Gallegos’ best performances from the 2020 campaign was when he registered a goal and an assist in a 3-2 victory over Austin Bold. In this match, his goal proved to be the match-winner.

Out of his two goals from the season, arguably his best goal was in another fixture against Austin Bold as he dispatched a well-placed shot into the bottom corner of the net. When it comes to assists, his assist against the OKC Energy showcased his dribbling and passing ability.

This would be a great signing for Bayern to make as they have had success so far bringing players from North American clubs to Germany. Gallegos will likely get to showcase his ability for Bayern II if he signs with Die Roten. After leading the way for his club in terms of creating chances, he seems to be a great prospect to bring into the club and allow him to further develop playing for the second team.
