Bayern Munich has edged Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker in a six-goal thriller at the Allianz. An Erling Haaland double inside eight minutes sent Dortmund on their way before Bayern stormed back with Robert Lewandowski scoring a hat-trick and a Leon Goretzka goal completing the remarkable comeback.
These games are always incredible encounters and this one was no different as Bayern had not even started the match when they found themselves behind just a minute into the match.
The visitors started like they were shot out of a cannon and their young rising star in Erling Haaland made his presence felt as the ball fell to him, he took a touch and rifled his shot past Manuel Neuer to give his side the lead.
If Bayern Munich was shell shocked by the opening goal, then just seven minutes later, their defensive fragilities were on the show yet again. Thorgan Hazard was driving into the Bayern box and produced a neat cut-back for Haaland who took his shot the first time and side-footed home to double Dortmund’s lead.

If fans wanted a match that was pleasing on the eye, then they got what they wanted as Dortmund was all over the league leaders. However as we have come to know by now, Bayern possesses incredible powers of recovery and they were again on show at the Allianz.
After conceding the second goal, Hansi Flick’s side grew into the game and their Polish hitman took center stage as he fired in his 29th goal of the season after great work from Leroy Sane as the winger produced a wonderful low cross to find Robert Lewandowski who scored the easiest of tap-ins.
Bayern was now on top in the contest as they chased an equalizer and there was a sense that Dortmund could be opened up at any time by the hosts and just as it seemed that Dortmund would make it to halftime with a lead, Mahmoud Dahoud clipped Kingsley Coman inside the area and after taking a took at the VAR monitor, the referee pointed to the spot.
Lewandowski stepped up and calmly slotted home his 30th goal of the season to bring Bayern level on the stroke of halftime. The Polish striker showed that the previous penalty miss few weeks ago was just a blip.
Just as it looked like the game was heading for a draw, with just three minutes on the clock, Leon Goretzka produced a fine volley to break Dortmund’s hearts as Bayern’s comeback was complete. To rub further salt into the wounds, just seconds later, Lewandowski completed his hat-trick after a Sane-led counter-attack found the Polish strike who then lashed home his 31st goal of the season to settle the contest.
It has been a common theme for Hansi Flick’s side going behind, but yet again they showed their powers of recovery as they moved back to the summit of the Bundesliga and maintain their two-point lead at the top.
