The speculation surrounding the future of David Alaba at Bayern Munich came to an end last week. The Austrian defender confirmed that he is leaving Bavaria after enjoying success for over a decade. The speculation will now surround Alaba’s next club since he didn’t announce his destination.
According to RMC (via GFFN), Paris Saint-Germain is eager to bring Alaba to the Ligue 1. This report also insists that Alaba has held talks with officials from PSG. There have been numerous reports since the winter transfer window that Alaba has set his heart to a move to Real Madrid in summer. However, the German media has denied such reports.
PSG has not been consistently linked with Alaba. There has been mention of a move to England and Spain in the last four to five months. A move to Paris is equally attractive compared to other top clubs in Europe.
Playing under a top coach such as Mauricio Pochettino and having teammates such as Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr is an exciting proposition for any player. Moreover, PSG also needs some sort of experience in the squad that can help them to achieve the target of winning the Champions League title.

It remains to be seen whether PSG will be able to meet the wage demands of Alaba. The superrich French club is set to hand a lucrative deal to Neymar Jr., and they remain in talks with Mbappe regarding a new contract. The defending French champions are also reportedly interested in signing Lionel Messi in the summer. After all these three huge deals, it will be intriguing to see whether they have room to add Alaba to their wage structure.
The Austrian defender will be one of the players in demand during a depressed summer window due to pandemic. Considering Alaba’s age and quality, top clubs will be fighting for his signature. The 28-year-old veteran defender will be looking for a club that meets his sporting and financial demands in what could be the final year of his contract.
Die Roten has acted quickly to replace Alaba in the team. Earlier in February, the World Champions announced an agreement with RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano. The German Champions will be paying his release clause worth €42.5 million in the summer.
As of now, Alaba will be focused on winning Bundesliga and Champions League titles with Rekordmeister. The German team will start the knockout phase of the European campaign with a trip to Rome to face Lazio.
