Bayern Munich: Corentin Tolisso’s injury might change transfer plans
It has been a bad week for Bayern Munich on the injury front. After scoring a great goal against Arminia Bielefeld, it did feel like Corentin Tolisso is going to play a big role in the final phase of the campaign. However, the stop-start season for Tolisso came to an end with a serious thigh injury in training on Thursday.
According to Bild, Tolisso is expected to be on the sidelines for six months. Die Roten confirmed on Friday that Tolisso had undergone surgery and he will soon start his rehabilitation from this injury. The French international is also likely to miss Euros for France in the summer.
It is a massive blow for Rekordmeister with respect to this season and summer plans. Since games are coming thick and fast, every player was needed in the final three months of the season as the World Champions look to defend Bundesliga and Champions League titles.
Meanwhile, the German club will have to assess the summer transfer plans after the injury to Tolisso. It has been widely reported in Germany that Die Roten is looking to sign a midfielder in the summer. Tolisso was considered as one of the players that would make space for the new acquisition.

If Corentin Tolisso is out for six months, then a summer transfer move is out of the equation. The German club may have to offer him a new short-term deal since his contract will expire in 2021. Another solution to this problem could be Bayern convincing interested clubs to sign Tolisso to sign despite being injured. Real Madrid had managed to send Gareth Bale on loan to Tottenham Hotspurs last summer despite the Welsh winger being injured at the time of transfer.
By the time the transfer window opens at the end of June, Tolisso will be in the final month of his reported injury recovery period. It is going to be intriguing to see how Rekordmeister approaches this situation since they want to sign a top young midfielder in the summer.
From Tolisso’s point of view, the timing of the injury is very frustrating. He was just getting back to his best after multiple niggles throughout the season. The Frenchman has been unfortunate with injuries ever since his impressive debut campaign.
Bayern faces a strange conundrum going into the summer due to Corentin Tolisso’s injury. The German club will work hard with Tolisso regarding his fitness. With less than 18 months on his contract, it will be decision time for the player in the summer that could have a big impact on the club’s transfer plans.
