After signing Dayot Upamecano from RB Leipzig and closing on the signing of Omar Richards from Reading, Bayern Munich will start working on securing the long-term future of key players in the squad. The German Champions don’t want to be in a sticky situation with important players as they were with Thiago Alcantara and David Alaba.

Die Roten has been efficient in terms of holding on to their key players during the past decade. Apart from Toni Kroos, they have never lost an important player at a young age. They want to maintain that trend as SportBild provides an update on the future of three young players in the squad.

Leon Goretzka

The German news outlet insists that Bayern has held promising talks with Goretzka regarding a contract extension. Goretzka is eager to stay in Bavaria, while the German Champions also consider him as one of the important players in the squad. A final agreement is expected to be found in May.

After the departure of Thiago in the summer, Goretzka’s importance in the midfield has increased. The German international has become a versatile midfield player under Hansi Flick. He has found consistency in his performances and makes a positive impact on the team’s performance every week. It is absolutely pivotal that Die Roten secures his future since the best years of his career are ahead of him.

More from Bayern Strikes

Kingsley Coman

Handing another contract to Kingsley Coman might have been a strange idea for Bayern 12 months ago. The French winger has come leaps and bounds during the last seven months. The winner against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League has flipped a switch for Coman, and he is finally getting consistent with his end product.

SportBild is reporting that the contract situation with Coman is tricky. The Frenchman is calm about the new deal, and he is yet to make a decision.

There are two years left on his current deal. The German outlet believes that Coman would want a bigger wage packet after a big deal was offered by Manchester United last summer. Die Roten will be hoping that they will find a breakthrough by the end of the season, or else they will have to listen to offers for Coman next year.

Joshua Kimmich

Kimmich is the MVP in the current Bayern squad. In his absence, the complete balance of the squad is shattered since he helps them to dominate games through his expansive passing range in the middle of the park.

SportBild insists that Bayern wants to reward Kimmich’s consistent performances despite his current deal is ending in 2023. Kimmich has held discussions with the club, but he further wants to know the long-term plans of Bayern before agreeing to the new contract. These negotiations are also likely to end positively since both parties are on the same page regarding ambitions.
