Bayern Munich drew 3-3 with Arminia Bielefeld on Monday night at the Allianz Arena. It was a match full of goals and it also featured first-half snow showers as Bayern were unable to extend their winning streak in the Bundesliga.

With three different goal scorers, it was a complete team effort to come back from a two-goal deficit at halftime. However, the comeback effort would not be enough to see Bayern record all three points against Arminia Bielefeld. They were facing a side that was well-rested and prepared to continue their fight to avoid relegation. Here are three key stats from the draw with Arminia Bielefeld.

The visitors take advantage of their opportunities

Arminia Bielefeld had fewer scoring attempts than Bayern. The visitors registered seven shots compared to 19 for the hosts. Despite not being able to match the offensive output of Bayern when it came to generating attempts, they were very effective when chances came their way.

Three of Arminia Bielefeld’s shot attempts found the back of the net for a 42% conversion rate which bettered Bayern’s rate of 15%. They were absolutely clinical when opportunities came their way and they deserve credit for this very efficient offensive display.

Stefan Ortega performs well in the snow

Despite their many attempts, Bayern was not able to put a winning goal past Stefan Ortega. The Arminia Bielefeld goalkeeper registered eight saves in the draw. His eight saves tied his season-high as he also recorded eight saves in the Matchday Six fixture against Borussia Dortmund.

Although he did concede three goals, Ortega limited his mistakes when there was snow on the pitch and had a strong performance to ensure Arminia Bielefeld registered at least a point in their visit to the Allianz Arena.

Conceding more goals

This was the fifth match of the 2020/21 Bundesliga campaign that Bayern have conceded three goals or more. The last time Die Roten has allowed three goals or more in five matches in a Bundesliga season was during the 2010/11 campaign.

Bayern finished in third place during the 2010/11 season but it’s unlikely they will meet a similar fate this season. They still hold a five-point advantage over RB Leipzig in the table and are 10 points clear of third-placed Eintracht Frankfurt. Regardless, this has so far been one of the worst seasons in recent memory for Bayern in terms of conceding goals in the Bundesliga.
